Sounds of the Heaven - Hang Concert by Andrey Letov

Andrey Letov, playing the Hang.

The first time I came across a Hang was outside Centre Pompidou, Paris a few years back. What drew my attention was the heavenly beautiful sound coming from this instrument. As soon as I found the source of the sound, I was bewitched and stayed right next to the musician for a long time.

Fast-forward to October 2015, after we have put up Mike’s Mandalas in our studio, I soon realised that the vibration in our studio is different - in a “better” way kind of different.  I was so inspired by the shift that I thought about getting various friends and collaborators to create some energy begetting events and workshops.  That way, more people can interact and enjoy the Mandalas before the exhibition ends.

So, in answering to my wish, my friend, Mariko, brought two artists from Russia - Andrey Letov and Nickolay Platonov - to our studio one morning. She felt that the sound vibrations from the Hang complement well with the vibrations from the Mandalas that we are exhibiting at the studio.  Indeed, she was right - the combination does create a lovely healing vibe in the room.

To spread the love and beautiful energy, we have then decided to have them over and perform at Luxe Nova Lifestyle Studio in the evening of Friday, 23 October 2015 (19:00-20:30).

More about Hang

This musical instrument - though the sound may seem to be ancient - was created by Felix Rohner and Sabina Schärer, of PANArt Hangbau AG, in Bern, Switzerland. It was introduced to the world in 2001 - so it is a 21 century instrument!
