What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda – the science of life (Ayur = life, Veda = science or knowledge) has existed for more than 5000 years. The two main aims are:
- to maintain the health of healthy beings and
- to treat diseases of the ailing.
It is a holistic and scientific system, based on a profound philosophy, leading to a long and healthy life.
The aim of a treatment is to bring back the balance of physical-mental and spiritual aspects of an individual. At Barberyn, the physician will explain to you how your condition is understood in Ayurveda as to the etiology, its signs and symptoms, the stage of the disease, relieving and aggravating factors. Then they would tailor the best line of treatments and diet for you.

What is Dosha?
Every person is made of a combination of five basic elements found in the Universe:
These elements combine in the human body to form three life forces or energies, called doshas. They control how your body works. The three doshas are:
vata dosha (space and air)
pitta dosha (fire and water)
kapha dosha (water and earth)
Everyone inherits a unique mix of the three doshas. One dosha is usually more dominant.
An important goal of Ayurveda is to identify a person’s ideal state of balance, determine where they are out of balance and offer interventions using diet, herbs, aromatherapy, massage treatments, music and meditation to re-establish balance.
