What is Reiki?
Our favourite description of what a Reiki session would be like is that “it is a lazy person’s meditation where you can lie down comfortably and reach the state of deep relaxation – physically, mentally and emotionally – with the assistance of a Reiki practitioner.”
Reiki is a form of energy healing therapy for deep relaxation and revitalisation. It is composed of two Japanese words, “靈氣”, meaning “universal life energy”. Reiki is channelled through the practitioner’s hands to the recipient. It is safe, constant, balanced, unlimited and dynamic.
This non-invasive healing technique has become popular and highly valued in Western medicine. It complements with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to promote recovery. In the UK, some hospitals like University College London Hospital offers Reiki as part of a hospital organised programme. It is also a form of preventive medicine. Regular treatments will help to replenish self-energy level and maintain well-being.
What do you get out of a Reiki session?
Each Reiki treatment is unique and personal to the recipient. It has an intelligence of its own and can adjust itself to create the appropriate healing effect for the individual’s needs. The effect can be subtle and slow or significant and immediate.
It treats the whole person and enhances physical, mental and emotional balance. It stimulates the body’s natural healing ability and self-awareness. It is suitable for people of all ages.
It is common to fall into the state of deep and restorative sleep - where your body get to activate the self-healing ability. You are free to snore as loud as your body desires!
