Yoga Philosophy - Revitalize Yourself Through Chakra Balancing
with Ram Vakkalanka
What are Chakras and why should we balance them?
Just as we have physical, emotional and mental sides to our personality, we also have an energetic side to our being. This is called ‘Energy Body’ in Yoga philosophy. This Energy system has innumerable energy centres known as ‘Chakras’ which distribute subtle energy to different parts of the body and keep them healthy.
Out of the many Chakras in the Energy body, seven are situated along the spinal canal and are considered important. These Chakras influence practically all aspects of our health and well-being - physical, mental and spiritual. When the Chakras are vibrating at their optimum levels, we experience health and happiness.
In this series of workshops taught by Ram Vakkalanka, we will gain a well-integrated understanding of the Chakras. We will:
- explore the seven principal Chakras in the body;
- gain a deeper understanding of the areas of influence on our physical and emotional health;
- look at some ways to connect with the Chakras, like different techniques of Chakra Meditation; and
- understand the Chakras imbalance and balance and some techniques to balance the Chakras.
Aside the theoretical knowledge, we will gain also practices like meditating intermittently to Chakra-balancing music.
Come prepared by bringing a pen and a notebook with you as well as wearing loose and comfortable clothing. Please feel free to bring your favourite accessories to meditation such as cushions.
What is included in this series of workshops?
Sounds of Chakras – a concert of Chakra-balancing music
Come and join us for a night of chakra-balancing music with Ram. Let the sound vibrations embody specific energies to cleanse and balance your Chakras. As we connect deeper with the vibrations, we can then unleash the energy locked up inside the Chakras – and in turn, enjoy an incredibly transformational journey.
Module 1: Mantra Yoga - Words of Power
Mantras are unique Vibrations that embody specific energies of the Universe. Repetition of Mantras attracts the Cosmic Energies, channels them inward and ignites corresponding energies inside the practitioner. Mantras help energize and centre ourselves, calm the negative chatter of the mind, deal with addictions, improve self-image, break through obstacles in life and induce inner peace and harmony.
Mantra Yoga promotes concentration, leads to deep meditative state and peace of mind.
In this workshop, we will learn about the various Cosmic Energies, prerequisites of a Mantra, accurate pronunciation of a few energizing Mantras, practical applications of Mantras and how to practice Mantra Meditation. Insights into Sanskrit will be offered as necessary.
Module 2: Mudras - Creating and sealing in the Energy
Mudra means “sealing or locking in” in Sanskrit. Mudras, involving specific ways of intertwining the fingers, seal in the energy. Energy, when sealed, is focused and unlimited in power. Accessing our unlimited inner power through the right application of Mudra can be learned.
Mudras – simple to complex – facilitate healing and meditation. Mudra, given its effect on the body, mind and consciousness, is transformative. Mudras can flow into one another or be sustained to direct the flow of prana for health, concentration and deeper spiritual awareness. Mudras are used by practitioners of Tantra, Bhakti Yoga and Buddhism.
In this workshop, we will learn how to energize ourselves for the daily life using some simple Mudras.
Module 3: Journey thru the Chakras
Chakras are the energy centers in the subtle body that influence all aspects of our lives, health and well-being - physical, mental and spiritual. These storehouses of power also hold the key to unleashing the best and the highest potential in us. Understanding the Chakras and their influence over us; how to cleanse and balance them as well as unleash the energy locked up inside them can have incredibly transformational impact on us.
In this workshop, we will explore the seven principal Chakras in the body, their areas of influence, their imbalance and balance and some techniques to balance the Chakras. This workshop involves meditating intermittently to some pre-recorded Chakra-balancing music. Come prepared by wearing loose and comfortable clothing.
