Somatic Psychotherapy with Tanya Bhakti Wong

What is Somatic Psychotherapy?

Everything that is alive pulsates with energy, and all of this energy contains information. "Soma" in Latin means body and, therefore, somatic is everything relating to the body (as distinct from the mind).  A somatic psychotherapy session with Bhakti combines visionary craniosacral work with psychology. And through mindfulness, she explores with you the linkages between your body (as in your physical anatomy) and your energetic anatomy.

It allows you to find out more about what is causing your particular physical symptom and dig a little deeper to see if there is more beyond the physical - be it your fatigue, the feeling of being overwhelmed or just the pain of your physical symptom.

These symptoms are often recurring, may even be chronic, and have no apparent root cause. Quite often, the root causes to these psycho-somatic symptoms may lie in the past: images, experiences, memories, impressions, sensations, feelings or such.

Together we create a safe space to explore the past, mindfully honour what is present, release what is no longer needed and replenish with what will move us towards greater vitality.

What symptoms can benefit from the Somatic Psychotherapy?

Symptoms which benefit from a somatic psychotherapy session include:

Abnormal fears - Accidents -  Atlas/ occiput compression - Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) - Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) - Autism - Behaviour problems - Birth trauma - Developmental delays - Eustachian tube problems - Headaches - Head-banging - Inconsolable crying - Insomnia - Learning disabilities - Motor problems - Neurological developmental dysfunction - Night terrors - Nightmares - Pulling of hair - Teeth grinding - Sensory integration - Sleep disorders - Stress - Vision problems

About Tanya Bhakti Wong

Tanya's journey into craniosacral work began in 1996 with these simple life-changing words: “Your biography becomes your biology” from Caroline Myss, renowned author and speaker for her works in human consciousness and mysticism.  It redefined what health meant for her, and changed her understanding of how our attitudes, memories, beliefs and relationships are reflected in our physical bodies.

Tanya (also known as Bhakti) draws upon her experiences in life: growing up in multi-cultural backgrounds, having had a corporate career, being a mother of two, and her continuous studies in Hakomi psychotherapy, as a yoga teacher and Reiki Master, into her sessions.  She counts Hugh Milne, Joyce Thom, Ellen Heed and Caroline Myss among her most influential teachers.

Tanya especially enjoys working with children.
