What is Yoga Nidra?
Yoga Nidra is the sublime science of complete relaxation. It is a unique holistic method for maximising health and wellbeing, releasing physical and mental tensions.
Yoga Nidra is also known as the "guided sleep meditation" or described as "yogic sleep". The deep rest from the practice of Yoga Nidra is key to healing and rejuvenation. It is a great antidote for our day and age.
What to expect from a session of Yoga Nidra?
The practice doesn’t require any effort and can be done by anyone of any age and physical condition.
During the practice of Yoga Nidra, you simply rest on your back while you are guided through steps that lead to ever-deeper states of relaxation (i.e. body scanning, guided imagery...).
Ultimately the brain waves slow down and a subtle euphoria emerges. Yoga Nidra allows enough time (20 to 60 mins) for practitioners to physiologically and psychologically sink into the deep rest and reap the benefits.
Yoga Nidra involves total relaxation on the floor, you will need to ensure that you are warm and comfortable lying down. We recommend that you bring the following items with you:
- a blanket
- a light pillow under the head/neck and under the knees
About Virginie Morel
Virginie is a French yoga teacher based in Hong Kong. She loves to share her passion for yoga and give her students the tools to empower themselves through their practice.
After some very rich and inspiring years as a creative marketer in the fragrance industry, Virginie decided to leave the corporate world to pursue a more creative and personal path.
She did her initial 200hr Kundalini/Vinyasa yoga training with Kia Miller in Rishikesh, India. This deeply transformative experience led her to understand the power of yoga to transform our lives.
Since then Virginie keeps on immersing herself in the study of the subtler aspects of yoga (pranayama, meditation, mantra, kriya, philosophy, Ayurveda, hatha, Tantra...) with Kia Miller, Rod Stryker & Mas Vidal. She is also a certified Reiki Master.
For Virginie, the magic of a yoga class is to share the ancient teachings and transpose them into our modern day and age to bring back a sense of connection to the Self and find our purpose. She believes in our potential to empower ourselves and live a more radiant, conscious and happy life.
Virginie’s classes incorporate a connection between breath & movement, mindful flow & internal experiences They are very accessible and yet powerful and transformative. This holistic practice of yoga is the perfect way to make you feel centred, connected and elevated.
